Dane Wleklinski, 2024 Offensive Lineman, Commits To Virginia Football

The Virginia football team went back to Ohio for its second straight recruiting commitment this weekend. After landing defensive end Jewett Hayes on Thursday out of Cincinnati on Thursday, the Hoos added offensive lineman Dane Wleklinski on Sunday from near Columbus.

The latest Cavalier commit out of Dublin Jerome High School carries a 3-star rating from the recruiting services. That continues the pattern for the 2024 class to date as all of the committed prospects have 3-star ratings at this time.

Wleklinski announced his decision on social media.

The Cavaliers have secured 14 commits in this cycle with 11 straight coming from out of state. Wleklinski and Hayes are from Ohio, while Chase Morrison, Jaylin Lackey, Kevon Gray, and Cedric Franklin are from Georgia. The remaining five players come from different states: Christian Zachary (South Carolina), KeShawn Adams (Connecticut), Triston Ward (Massachusetts), Grant Ellinger (Illinois), and Tyler Simmons (Florida). There are also three in-state commitments with Ethan Minter/Thomas Dale, John Rogers/Episcopal, and Benjamin York/Yorktown in the fold.

Virginia focused on the lines with each of the last two commitments, which matches a large percentage of the class to date. Wleklinski joined Ellinger and York as offensive line commits, while Hayes, Simmons, and Morrison could all be defensive ends or edge players defensively. That represents 42.8% of the class so far.

At 6’6″ and 275 pounds, Wleklinski projects as an offensive tackle on the next level. He had picked up numerous Division I offers thanks to those projections. He selected Virginia over West Virginia, Cincinnati, Indiana, Duke, Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, JMU, and Army among others.
