Bjorn Jurgensen, 2025 Quarterback, Commits To Virginia

The Virginia football team’s hot streak in recruiting kept cooking on Thursday when the program added its sixth high school commitment in the last two weeks. This time 2025 quarterback Bjorn Jurgensen made the call for the Cavaliers.

Jurgensen made the announcement on social media just days after announcing that he had received the UVA offer.

Jurgensen’s commitment extends the recent run on the recruiting trail as he joined Donovan Robinson, Isaiah Reese, Willem Thurber, Justin Rowe, and Xay Davis as high school Class of 2025 commitments since last April 19. That flurry has pushed the count to 12 for the cycle with 247 Sports ranking the Hoos with the 19th best class nationally at this early stage.

Jurgensen, 6’2”/180 pounds, became the second quarterback in the class, joining Cole Geer at that position. Geer was the second commitment in the class. UVA did not take a QB in the Class of 2024. That sets up a future quarterback room with Anthony Colandrea and Gavin Frakes (both have 3 years of eligibility remaining entering 2024).

247 Sports rates both Geer and Jurgensen as 3-star recruits. That system also tabs Jurgensen as the No. 109 ranked recruit in talent-rich Florida where he plays for Bishop Moore High School. He chose Virginia over offers from Florida Atlantic, Appalachian State, East Carolina, JMU, ODU, Columbia, and more.

The decision to pick the Cavaliers came quickly. He visited Virginia on April 28. Two days later on April 30, he posted a thank you on social media to quarterbacks coach Taylor Lamb for visiting his school and reported the UVA offer. The official commitment then came two days later.

Jurgensen led Bishop Moore in Orlando to a 9-4 record last season. He threw for 2,466 yards with 29 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He also ran for 632 yards and 12 touchdowns.
