The Virginia football team got to enjoy a bye week on a winning streak after it ripped Boise State, , 42-23, on the blue turf out west. That gave the Hoos back-to-back victories as they entered the week off with a 3-1 record. They hadn’t started a season that well since 2007.
With Duke up next after the bye week, let’s take a look at some things that popped up in the film review from Boise.
Diamond In Disguise
When Jordan Ellis slipped into the end zone late in the first quarter, the touchdown not only set up a 7-7 tie, it also marked the second straight game he had scored out of that formation. The diamond look is something I identified from BYU film as something likely to get heavy use with a new offense being installed by Robert Anae. It’s also a staple of sorts for spread teams so you’ll see the inverted wishbone concept from opponents too, including during this game against Boise State.
