TheSabre.com’s Fan Friday: Four Weeks Until The Home Opener!

It’s just four weeks until the Virginia football team’s home opener! William & Mary is scheduled for a Friday night visit to Scott Stadium, where UVA fans will start off the home season with an 8 p.m. kickoff under the lights.

That game features the return of former coach Mike London and a whole host of former Cavaliers that are on his staff. Assistant coaches there include Josh Zidenberg, Matt Johns, Gordon Sammis, Ras-I Dowling, Keenan Carter, and Darryl Blackstock. Former Virginia assistant coach Vincent Brown is also the Tribe’s Associate Head Coach.

So four Fridays from now could be considered an unofficial Homecomings weekend in Hooville. The actual Homecomings game on the schedule is against Georgia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 9.

With kickoff getting closer, let’s get to this week’s Fan Friday article.

Sometimes, a short and simple post says a lot. That was the case this week when poster HTrain90 shared a quick hat tip for the job Bronco Mendenhall and company have done on reshaping the UVA football roster. You can read other posts in the thread here.

Thread Of The Week

During the week, KGHoo started a thread about the running backs at Virginia. That led to a lot of good discussion about the competition to replace Jordan Ellis. Several posts are below, but you can read the whole thread here. It branched off into receiver talk as well.

Question Of The Week

Another good discussion on the football message board stemmed from a post by QBSacker. The question: Does Perkins run the ball more or less than last year? QBSacker posted “I go back and forth” on the answer. What about you Hoo fans? Read the whole thread and chime in here.
