While the future of the Virginia basketball program and the transfer portal remains a hot topic, a double blast of nostalgia made headlines this week for Wahoo fans too. NBC 29 reported that Cavalier basketball legend Ralph Sampson had joined a group to purchase the White Spot. Home of the Gus Burger, the restaurant has been part of UVA student lore since 1953.

The White Spot is on the only new beginning this spring. Many – more than 1,000 – college basketball players are looking for just that this spring so the transfer portal remains a hot topic among fanbases around the country. The Hoos had lost Casey Morsell (now committed to NC State), Justin McKoy, and Jabri Abdur-Rahim to the portal, but were still waiting for news on incoming transfers for most of the week.
That changed when Indiana’s Armaan Franklin announced that he had committed to UVA as his new college home. Another top prospect, East Carolina transfer Jayden Gardner, held a Zoom meeting with Tony Bennett and company late in the week as well and he has set plans to announce his choice on Monday.
That movement on the transfer front sparked some of the conversations on the message boards this week. Other hot topics included UVA’s remaining hoops roster and its chances, FSU’s football stadium, the Cavalier secondary, the baseball team’s late season chances, and an all-time soccer question.
