TheSabre.com Fan Friday: Kickoff Against Tennessee Draws Closer

Virginia Cavaliers

The Virginia baseball team made a run to the College World Series and the women’s soccer team opened the new UVA sports year last week so the summer wait to see the Wahoos maybe didn’t feel as long as some years. With Labor Day weekend on the radar now, it means the Virginia football is almost back too.

The Cavaliers open their season on Saturday, Sept. 2 in Nashville at Nissan Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Tennessee Titans. They face Tennessee at noon in a game to be televised by ABC. The Volunteers enter the season ranked No. 12 in The Associated Press poll, while the Hoos come into 2023 unranked and picked to finish last in the ACC.

Virginia CavaliersDespite the long odds at an upset, the matchup has the attention of Virginia fans. A few threads this past week on the football message board discussed the game from different angles. Check it out:

So what do you think? Can the Hoos pull off an upset? Can they cover the spread? Join any of the threads or start your own to talk about the game.

Long punts get you lot of preseason recognition – Daniel Sparks was named preseason All-ACC by the conference media and by Athlon Sports with a spot on the Ray Guy Award watch list too. He was second team All-ACC last season.
