Not since former Boston College star and current Cleveland Browns running back William Green came through Holy Spirit High School (Absecon, N.J.) has head football coach Bill Walsh had a better athlete than Zach Luckett, who is becoming one of the best prospects in the state of New Jersey.
“William was a physical freak,” Walsh said. “He was very, very powerful and explosive. Zach has more athleticism and can do more things with his body as far as cutting that William did not have. I think Zach’s potential and football ability is better than William’s was at this stage of his career.”
The versatility that comes with Luckett’s combination of a 6-3, 205-pound frame with athleticism really make him attractive for the next level.
“As far as a body and a frame, Zach’s got a tremendous frame to work with,” Walsh said. Luckett currently plays tailback and free safety for coach Walsh. “If he only played football, he’d probably be entering his senior year somewhere around 225. He’s got less than four percent body fat now, so between now (he’s only 16 now) and his senior year in college he could be in for a rapid gain in strength and weight.
