Clover Hill High School (Midlothian) made the trek all the way from Richmond to Lake Taylor High School for the Norfolk combine, and the trip was definitely worth it for offensive line prospect Blake DeChristopher .
In front of coaches from Louisville, North Carolina, Penn State, Virginia (Mike London) and Virginia Tech (Curt Newsome and Bryan Stinespring), the 6-5, 290-pound DeChristopher performed very well in his combine performance. He benched 185 pounds 28 times (only two shy of his personal best) and, according to Clover Hill head coach Sean O’Hare, posted consecutive 5.0 forty times. He looked pretty athletic while running those 40s.
Things started to pick up before the combine and will likely continue to pick up in the coming weeks.
“After the Virginia Tech offer, Maryland verbally offered and said the official offer was in the mail,” O’Hare said. “Virginia also said they were throwing their hat in the ring. Today, coaches have pretty much been throwing cards at me (laughs).”
