6-2, 195-pound Kempsville (Virginia Beach, VA) wide receiver Jay Smith has a current top seven. Smith says this “most likely is” the final seven, although he didn’t rule out a possible change down the road. TheSabre.com caught up with the talented 4-star prospect to find out which programs are in the top seven, where he plans to go this summer and when a commitment could be made.
First things first: the top seven. In alphabetical order, the schools that are currently up there are Clemson, Miami, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Virginia and Virginia Tech. In general, there were three reasons why these programs made the cut.
”Location and the way the offenses are run. Obviously, a quarterback being there the same time I’m there is important too,” Smith said. “Most of the schools in my top seven have that. Like Clemson told me they have the #2 quarterback in the nation. It is important.”
