Jared Green chose UVa over offers from Central Florida and UAB

Oakton WR Jared Green , Friendly (Fort Washington, MD) WR Vincent Hill , Solon (OH) WR Charles Matthews, Kennedy (Silver Spring, MD) LB Chimso Okoji and Milford Academy/Ballou OLB Romale Tucker all made official visits to UVa this past weekend. Obviously, UVa received some good news with respect to Green, who committed over the weekend. How did things play out for the rest of the prospects?

Heading into the weekend, Green, Matthews and Okoji had not been offered by UVa. By the end of the trip, only Green had received and accepted an offer. It appears as if Green’s commitment cost Okoji the chance for an offer…at least at this point.

“I spoke to Coach [Al] Groh. I guess they got another commitment or something because he said they are at their limit right now,” said Okoji, the 6-2, 225-pound LB out of Kennedy High School in Maryland. “He said that if this were March I would be one of the guys he would try to get in early. He said things could change, but right now it is just the timing that is not good.”

Okoji, who has offers from Iowa and Michigan State, among others, enjoyed his time in Charlottesville.

“It was good visit,” Okoji said. “I actually liked it. I stayed with a lot of guys from the team. I think my designated host was Rashawn Jackson . I really loved hanging out with the players. Everyone was really open.”

Coach Groh indicated that there could be a chance of a spot opening before signing day.
