UVa received a visit from Churchville-Chili (Churchville, N.Y.) running back Averin Collier last Saturday. The 5-11, 195-pound junior, Rochester Area Player of the Year this past season, had a great time in Charlottesville and feels as if he knows a lot more about UVa’s program.
“I think it was a lot more in depth than my previous visit,” Collier said. “I got to see the coaches during practice, to see how they coach and their philosophies. Coach Price walked me and [Christian Brothers (Syracuse, N.Y.) WR] Marcus [Sales] around. It was beneficial for me being there because now I know the history and everything. The best thing for me was experiencing the coaches and how they run things.”
As a result of the experience, Collier says “I’ve got a good feeling on how Coach Groh’s philosophy is. He is recruiting players that would best represent UVa as a player and a student. I could see being part of the program. I haven’t narrowed anything down, but Virginia is definitely going to be a guideline for other schools.”
