Virginia coach Al Groh has spoken frequently this spring about improving the production of the field goal unit, which struggled last season following the graduation of the near automatic Connor Hughes. Last season, UVa converted 12 of 21 field goal attempts with all misses exceeding 39 yards. Still, Groh wants a more consistent feel to the kicking game, meaning Noah Greenbaum and Chris Gould are in competition again this spring.
One of those players is expected to be named the leader entering fall camp, but the job still may not be won. Incoming recruit Chris Hinkebein is expected to be inserted into the conversation this fall as well.
