6-1, 225-pound Brooke Pointe (Stafford, VA) rising senior linebacker Donovan Miles emerged this spring as one of the top defensive prospects in the state of Virginia. Each of the first four programs to receive video – Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia – responded with a scholarship offer. More videos have been sent out recently and, while head coach Jeff Berry awaits word from those schools, one other program seems very close to offering.
“Wake Forest was in here and saw him on film and really liked him,” said Berry, who recently sent out film of Miles to Boston College, Florida, Michigan and North Carolina. “It was their first time seeing him so the recruiter told me he couldn’t offer on the spot, but it was pretty darn close to that.”
Coaches from Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia have all stopped by Brooke Pointe in the Evaluation period. In fact, Virginia sent “maybe four or five” coaches and Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer has also been by the school.
