Top men’s basketball prospects from the 2008, 2009 and 2010 classes, respectively, made their way to Charlottesville this past weekend to play in the Southern Invitational, an AAU tournament annually held at the University of Virginia. The was on hand over the weekend to check out UVa’s already established targets as well as potential future targets.

Boo Williams 17-under
(The team finished as the runner-up in the Gold Bracket)

Ed Davis – 6-8, 215-pound F, Benedictine (Richmond, VA)

I only saw Ed on one occasion this weekend and it was a tough first half for him, as he was constantly double and triple-teamed as soon as he touched the ball. Davis continues to show his versatility, though, as he is a quality passer and a good defender. He can help the team in other ways when he is not scoring. Physically, he looks like he is coming along as he looked a bit bigger than the last time I saw him play. Recruiting-wise, I continue to hear that Virginia and U-Conn are the top teams to beat. UNC is also high on the list. Right now, I still consider UVa the team to beat as the staff has done a great job here.

Reggie Johnson – 6-8, 275-pound PF/C, Winston-Salem Prep (N.C.)

Triple Threat 17-under

Kevon Moore – 6-3, 180-pound PG/CG, Archbishop Spaulding (Greenbelt, MD)

Carolina Raptors 17-under
