Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Maryland, Nebraska, Pitt, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wisconsin are among the schools that have offered Tyler Sands , a 6-5 1/2, 290-pound offensive line recruit out of Boyertown (PA). Sands is one of the more highly recruited offensive line prospects in the Keystone State, as he picked up his 19th scholarship offer yesterday.
Last season, the talented junior helped Boyertown to an 8-4 record, its first league championship in 27 years and its first playoff appearance in school history. Sands played right tackle and defensive line (saw time at DE, DT and NG) and though a few schools like him on defense, he is being recruited primarily as an offensive lineman.
“A lot of smaller schools think of me more as an offensive tackle, but the bigger schools (including Virginia) are looking at me as an offensive guard or center,” Sands said. “I’m fine with all three positions. I just want to play. I have some options for defense, too. Temple likes me only for defense. I’ll play anywhere.”
