The defensive line was one of Virginia’s areas of strength in 2006. The stellar play of Chris Long and the emergence of Jeffrey Fitzgerald gave Cavalier fans a reason to tune in each week and also be hopeful about the 2007 season.

That 2007 season is now upon us and every indicator points toward another great season from the defensive line. With Fitzgerald having a year of game experience under his belt and Long and nose tackle Allen Billyk looking to end their college careers on high notes, the play of the defensive line should be something truly special to watch. Billyk will share time at nose tackle with Nate Collins , who showed flashes of potential playing as a true freshman in 2006.

“It’s probably going to be a fairly quick rotation,” Al Groh said of Billyk and Collins. “That is a position where it is really pretty close
