Over the past two classes, the University of Virginia coaching staff has signed a total of 22 prospects that currently reside or project on defense or special teams. Defensive back leads the way in terms of numbers with seven, but the staff has also brought in six defensive linemen and six linebackers in that span. On special teams, the staff has brought in one long snapper, one place-kicker and one punter.

Prior to spring football, the top defensive need appears to be the defensive line, but also look for the staff to bring in linebackers and defensive backs as well.
