Virginia’s recent tight end lineage started when Heath Miller put up some incredible numbers en route to winning the Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end. In 2007, departing tight ends Tom Santi and Jonathan Stupar combined to produce some impressive statistics: 76 catches, 777 yards, 5 touchdowns.
Returning end John Phillips , who is expected to be in the leading role this season, chipped in with 193 yards and 2 TDs. Entering the spotlight next could be sophomore Joe Torchia , a 6-5, 255-pound product of Queen of Peace High School.
