Jeremiah Mathis makes a big play for the defense during the season.

Following the 2008 season, Jeremiah Mathis met with DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD) head coach Bill McGregor to go over which colleges he would be interested in attending. The 6-3, 244-pound senior defensive end/tight end mentioned UVa as a school of interest and today, about a month after the meeting with McGregor, the talented outside linebacker recruit is a member of UVa’s recruiting class.

Al Groh and company may have freshman defensive back Rodney McLeod to thank for its 24th commit of the 2009 class.
