2009 Virginia recruit Tristan Spurlock will once again be in Charlottesville this Saturday, when he will support his future teammates as they take on the nationally-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Spurlock, a 6-8, 220-pound wing forward out of Word of Life School in Springfield, Virginia, looks forward to the weekend but is also focused on his current team’s upcoming playoffs.

Word of Life is 19-7 on the year with two more regular season games remaining before the playoffs begin. Spurlock is averaging 24 points and close to 10 rebounds per contest.

“Everything is going well,” Spurlock said. “After Virginia beat Clemson, we went against IMG. [6-9, 220-pound junior power forward] Dwight Powell plays for them and he had just visited Virginia for the Clemson game. I had 43 points against them. We were beating them, but they pulled it out in the end.”

Spurlock says he and his teammates are healthy heading into the playoffs and he believes they could be primed for a serious playoff run.

“Some games we look great. Some games we don’t look like we know what we’re doing,” Spurlock said. “When we’re healthy and ready to play, we can go against anyone.”

Although Spurlock has already signed on the letter of intent’s dotted line with the Cavaliers, he continues to be in close contact with the Virginia staff and specifically primary recruiter Bill Courtney. What do the Virginia coaches discuss with their star recruit?
