Overall projections…

Virginia currently projects to have 75 scholarship players on its roster in the 2010 season. This number is almost certainly will change, though Al Groh and company still figure to be limited with the number of scholarships at their disposal in this class. Overall, I’d expect the staff to sign around 15 players, give or take a few depending on attrition.

UVa has received one verbal commitment thus far, from West Rowan (Mount Ulla, N.C.) running back Kevin “KP” Parks. The 5-7, 190-pound junior committed to the Cavs in February over offers from East Carolina and Illinois.

Breakdown by position…

Projected 2010 season roster (those on scholarship now) (4): Marc Verica (Sr); Riko Smalls (Soph); Quintin Hunter (R/S Fr/Soph), Ross Metheny (R/S Fr/Soph)

Sam Gibson

2010 Class Projection: Securing one quality quarterback in this class should be the goal with Prattville (AL) star Sam Gibson and Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati, OH) signal caller Andrew Hendrix being two top targets at this point. Virginia has also offered Michigan signal caller Robert Bolden but is in better position with Gibson and Hendrix.

Hendrix visited UVa in February and at last check planned to return, while Gibson plans to check out Virginia for the first time on June 13th.

2010 Roster (5); Raynard Horne (Sr), Keith Payne (Sr); Max Milien (Jr); Torrey Mack (Soph); Dominique Wallace (R/S Fr/Soph)
