This summer, Lake Chelan (WA) shooting guard/small forward prospect Joe Harris has seen interest increase from Division 1 college coaches. Besides offers from, Portland, San Diego, Virginia and WSU, the 6-6, 200-pound rising senior is hearing from Arizona State, Georgetown, Nevada, Notre Dame, SMU and Washington.
“I’m pretty open with the whole process,” Harris said. “I definitely really like Virginia and a couple of the local schools. Ever since the UVa offer, my recruiting has kind of blown up with interest from East coast schools.”
Harris may not be open for too much longer.
“I thinking about [making a college decision] at the end of the Friends of Hoop (AAU) season,” said Harris. “That is fairly soon, at the end of July or in early August. If I’m 100-percent sure, I’ll do it.”
Harris has attended camps at Virginia and Washington State. He has taken a visit to Washington and went to Gonzaga with teammates for a team camp. He reflected on the experience in Charlottesville last month.
“I really liked Virginia when I went out there,” Harris said. “Everything was amazing. It was beautiful. That definitely was a big plus. I really like all the coaches. I’ve know Coach Bennett for a while and I’ve been getting to know Ritchie McKay. As far as location, that is not too big a factor. I’ve talked to my family about it. Wherever I go, I won’t come home that often.”

“Virginia is at the top right now,” Harris said. “I really like the program and Coach Bennett and everything they have to offer. Overall, they are a school that has shown a lot of interest in me.”
