Thourogood Being Targeted As A QB

Lafonte Thourogood ‘s recruiting card

Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) quarterback Lafonte Thourogood totaled 1,800 yards of offense this past season, including about 1,000 yards passing and 800 yards rushing. The 6-2, 215-pound junior, a 2-year starter on the varsity level, developed well as a signal caller, impressing FBS coaches to the point where he is now being primarily recruited to play quarterback on the next level.

“The main thing I improved last year was being patient in the pocket,” said Thourogood, who has the athleticism and the speed (he has run the 100 meters in under 11 seconds) to play another position on the college level. “In my sophomore year, at the first sign of trouble I’d use my legs to make a play. This year, I got used to the speed of the game. I’d sit in the pocket. I especially improved at reading the defenses.”

East Carolina, North Carolina, N.C. State, Stanford, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and West Virginia have officially offered Thourogood as a quarterback. Recently, Virginia Tech coaches Bryan Stinespring and Curt Newsome headed to Virginia Beach to let Dolphins head coach Chris Scott know where they rank the talented prospect.
