Phoebus (Hampton, VA) linebacker prospect Caleb Taylor spoke with several Virginia Tech coaches last Saturday. He got a somewhat better feel for where he stands in terms of a scholarship offer, but for now he is holding steady at four official offers – Louisville, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
“[The Virginia Tech coaches have] watched tape,” the 6-0, 230-pound linebacker said. “They like me and would want me to play inside for them. Coach Foster thought I fit into the defense. He wants me to come to camp because they don’t have that many scholarships. They want to make sure my knee is good.”

The Phantoms star, who missed most of last season due to a torn ACL, enjoyed Saturday’s experience in Blacksburg.
“I liked it because I got to talk to Coach Cav, Coach Foster and even Coach Beamer,” Taylor said. “It was crazy. Before the game, there was tailgating, partying, people coming up and asking me if I liked the school. They have a great fan base. I like it up there.”
Following the experience, Taylor says Virginia Tech “is in my top three.”
