Hill: UVa Just Felt Like "The Right School"

D.J. Hill was intrigued enough by the University of Virginia to make the 7 1/2 hour trip to Charlottesville for an unofficial visit in August. Days following the visit, the Newton (Covington, GA) star said the following about the experience: “The location is real nice. I didn’t think it would be like it is. I loved everything about it. The academics are real good. The academics are some of the best in the country. The stadium is nice. The locker room is nice.”

The 6-1, 220-pound prospect was clearly impacted in a positive way by this visit. An official visit the weekend of the Miami game reaffirmed those positive feelings. Shortly thereafter, Hill would discuss his future with his family and Newton head coach Cortez Allen. He decided to commit to the Cavaliers.

“After the unofficial visit, I really liked it and it became a choice. It really made them a choice,” Hill said of UVa, which won out over Mississippi, Vanderbilt, and Middle Tennessee State.

On the official visit experience, “I saw that UVa was real family oriented,” Hill said. “The players accepted me. I felt like I was part of the team. Me and the other commits there bonded. They were there on an unofficial visit, but they were talking about me coming there. I liked the coaches. I just liked everything. I just felt like it was the right school.”
