Michael Mooney ‘s first experience at UVa came last summer, when he participated in a one-day camp. The Malvern Prep (Chester Springs, PA) offensive line prospect returned to Charlottesville last fall to see the Florida State home football game, which he was invited by the Virginia coaches to attend. The second visit, in particular, solidified UVa as a school of interest for the Pennsylvania prep standout.
“After the visit down there, I think he came back feeling something inside, that if he could play there that would be it,” Malvern Prep head coach Kevin Pelligrini said. “He didn’t verbalize it to me, but I think that’s what he felt. UVa said he needed to come down for another visit, and he did [earlier in June]. That’s when they offered. I think he wanted to commit on the spot.”
