With a plus combination of size and athletic ability, Max Valles may be one of the more interesting of Virginia’s 2012 class recruits to follow in the coming years. At 6’5″, 225 pounds, Valles has seen action at safety, wide receiver, defensive end and tight end at St. Joseph’s (Hammonton, N.J.), and the position he’ll play at UVa is unclear. Valles didn’t play much his freshman year but earned a starting role in 2009. He played wide receiver and safety his sophomore season, helping St. Joe to its first NJSIAA Non-Public Group II state championship title since 2006. St. Joe defeated St. Mary 40-0 last season for its second consecutive state championship, the 20th in school history.
