David Watford didn’t expect to redshirt last fall. He had, after all, played as a true freshman and put in months of offseason work. He entered fall camp with hopes of winning the starting job. So when the quarterback competition for the Virginia football program settled and shuffled Watford into a second-year redshirt, it was hard for him.
After getting over the initial disappointment, however, Watford embraced the opportunity and rededicated himself to his development.
