Defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi ‘s offer list includes some prominent schools outside of the state. There is Florida State, which has been re-establishing itself as one of the top football power. There is Mississippi, which signed one of the top recruiting classes in the country this past February. West Virginia and Wisconsin are among the other out-of-state offers the Ocean Lakes (Virginia Beach, VA) star rising senior has received. At this point, though, I think there is a good chance the 6’2″, 305-pound prospect ultimately decides between in-state rivals UVa and Virginia Tech.
Nnadi visited each in-state ACC school recently, attending a spring practice at Virginia on March 23 and spending a few days in Blacksburg this past weekend. Attempts to reach Nnadi for comments have been unsuccessful so far, but he did tweet the following about his time at Virginia Tech: “Had a nice time out here in Blacksburg.”
In my opinion, this could end up being the top in-state battles between the Hoos and the Hokies in the 2014 class.
As a junior last season, Nnadi racked up over 100 tackles including 27 tackles-for-loss and 13 sacks, establishing himself as one of the state’s best. He helped the Dolphins to an undefeated regular season and an appearance in the Group AAA, Division 6 state championship game.
Thomas Dale (Chester, VA) standout rising senior CJ Reavis was in Charlottesville this past Saturday for a spring practice, one week after attending a Prospect Day at Virginia Tech.
“It was cool as always,” Reavis wrote via text about his most recent experience at UVa. “It helped them.”
