Last Friday night, Bishop Sullivan (Virginia Beach, VA) defeated St. Anne’s-Belfield (Charlottesville, VA) 49-22. The game featured several standout performers, most notably Bishop Sullivan senior wide receiver Jamil Kamara , who boasts double-digit scholarship offers but has whittled his list to six schools. TheSabre.com was on hand for coverage, and following the game we caught up with Kamara and St. Anne’s sophomore Jalen Harrison for reports.
Kamara Continues To Roll In Senior Season
Jamil Kamara is off to a fantastic start to the 2013 season, having helped Bishop Sullivan capture four straight wins with zero losses to begin the year. Last Friday night, Kamara was on the receiving end of a 50-yard touchdown reception on the game’s first play from scrimmage.
“It was a deep post,” Kamara recalled. “The quarterback put it on the money, I caught it and scored. It was real exciting.”
Kamara added a 40-yard touchdown reception (see highlight below) in the second quarter to stretch his team’s lead to 35-7. St. Anne’s cut the deficit to 35-22 in the third quarter, thanks to a Hail Mary touchdown at the end of the half and a hook-and-ladder play that went for a touchdown early on in the third, but Bishop Sullivan regrouped and ultimately took the 27-point win. Fellow unbeaten Nansemond Suffolk looms ahead this week, but Kamara is confident given his team’s performance this season.
