When the Virginia and Ohio State men’s lacrosse teams lock horns Sunday, it will set up a battle of strengths. The Hoos bring one of the nation’s most prolific offenses to the field, while the Buckeyes counter with what has been one of the stingiest defenses.

Just how much of a grudge match could be on tap?

UVA enters the game ranked No. 8 nationally in goals per game at 16.50. The Hoos rank No. 2 nationally in assists per game at 12.0 and they led the nation in that category a year ago. Ohio State, meanwhile, ranks No. 3 nationally in goals allowed per game at 6.0. The Buckeyes rank 15th in caused turnovers per game at 10.50. (Check out NCAA stats here.)

Virginia coach Lars Tiffany respects what he’s seen of OSU, who enters the weekend 4-0 with wins against Utah, Cleveland State, Bellarmine, and Air Force. The Cavaliers sit at 2-0 with wins against Michigan and Richmond.
