Virginia Baseball Notes: Hoos Ready For Chances Ahead

Now that May is with us on the calendar and days are warmer, the action heats up in college baseball. For the Virginia program, that’s been a welcomed time of year under coach Brian O’Connor.

The Cavaliers won the 2015 National Championship and they’ve made 5 College World Series appearances during his tenure. The Hoos have won eight NCAA Regionals. They’ve also won 2 ACC Championships through the conference tourney.

In other words, the end of the season brings high stakes games, more fan eyeballs, and an opportunity to make a memorable run.

“When you’re at this level in baseball and your program is highly thought of, ultimately you’re judged on how you do at the very end of the season,” O’Connor said. “Everybody remembers last year [because of] the fact that we made it to Omaha. We’re not judged on whether we get to Omaha or not, but we’re judged on how we finish, and so the month of May will be an important part of that for us.”
