On March 31, 2023, the Virginia Cavaliers were 24-2 following their game one win of their weekend series with Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. The following month – not so good. In the month of April, the Hoos lost 9 of 20 games and stood at 34-11. During that time the UVA baseball team posted a 5-9 record in ACC play and lost 4 of 5 conference series, including being swept by Notre Dame on a deplorable road weekend and losing at home to both Pitt and Duke.

Virginia looked nothing like a top 8 NCAA National Seed. The Hoos barely looked like a regional 2 seed. Polls were dropping them fast. But in the UVA clubhouse, there was no panic, no blame game, no finger pointing, and no fear.

There were only buffaloes donning orange and blue.
