You have to go back more than a decade to find the answer. The names on these lists are a who’s who of Virginia baseball.
Mike Papi in 2012 was the last freshman for the Cavaliers to spend the majority of the season in the cleanup spot. Only four freshmen have ever hit fourth in the the lineup for O’Connor at UVA, Papi, Dan Grovatt in 2008, David Adams in 2006, and Sean Doolittle in 2005.
