Virginia Baseball: 3 Things On Jack O’Connor, Lots Of Runs, Jacob Ference

Comebacks. Lots of runs. Make that lots and lots and lots of runs. That’s the best way to sum up the Virginia baseball team’s recent play.

In the ACC weekend series against Wake Forest, the Cavaliers took the first game of the series with a 16-10 output, aided by some missed defensive opportunities from the Deacs. Then on Sunday, the Hoos scored 11 runs to complete the 11-10 come-from-behind, walk-off win to claim the series.

Then on Tuesday, UVA trailed Georgetown 5-4 entering the bottom of the fourth inning before it rolled through the back of the game on the way to a 15-6 victory. Ultimately, Virginia has overcome deficits in 16 of its 20 games this season and has recorded three walk-off wins.

“We’ve shown in a short season so far in 20 games that our offensive club just doesn’t quit. It’s incredibly impressive, something I’ve never seen this amount of times before,” Cavalier coach Brian O’Connor said.
