Virginia Baseball: 3 Things On Team Performance At Duke, 2 Pitchers

It was a tough weekend for the Virginia baseball team in Durham against Duke and the Cavaliers’ offense, defense, and pitching all could shoulder some of the blame.

Offensively, the Hoos hit just .255 (25-98) against Duke’s stellar pitching staff. On the pitching front, UVA fell in game one after a difficult outing for Cullen McKay. While Virginia got solid starts from Evan Blanco and Kevin Jaxel in the next two games, only Blanco came away with a win. On the bright side for the defense and pitching, the Hoos held Duke to its second fewest runs (19) in ACC series this season, one fewer than the Devils scored against Clemson.
