Virginia Baseball: 3 Things On Bottom Of Order, Offense, Ethan Anderson

The Virginia baseball team won its fourth ACC series in the last five weekends on the road at Louisville. UVA now owns road series wins at Pittsburgh and Louisville.

Starting pitcher Evan Blanco set the tone against the Cardinals with an excellent Friday night start, limiting the hosts to 3 earned runs on 6 hits. Blanco struck out a career-high 11 batters and 70% of his pitches were strikes. Chase Hungate and Patric Menk combined to keep UL quiet with 3 shutout innings, retiring all 9 hitters they faced.

It took the high-flying Cavalier offense just 1.2 innings to get all the runs needed to win, but the production did not stop there. UVA’s 21-3 win handed Louisville its worst loss since a 30-2 pounding at TCU on May 16, 2003.

Game one was simply a complete team effort, offensively, defensively, and pitching. Game two? Not so much.
