It’s easy to feel spoiled these days leaving the John Paul Jones Arena. The Virginia basketball team won again in the building on Wednesday night, dispatching Louisville 74-64 to reach 10-0 in the ACC standings. That victory pushed UVA’s six-year record at home to 47-4 in league play.
Yeah, so pretty easy to exercise that Thankfulness pillar on that one right?
The Hoos won’t be at home again until Saturday, Feb. 10 against Virginia Tech with road games at Syracuse and Florida State up next. Before they hit the dome, however, the Double Bonus is back to look closer at the Louisville win. Let’s go.
Follow The Leader Buckets
Way back in the October scrimmage, I noted in a Double Bonus article that I spotted more frequent “follow the leader” cuts within the basic Virginia ‘sides’ motion offense. I call it a “follow the leader” cut because it features on player running off a screen and then curling, followed by a second player running off the same screen right after that. This is an effective strategy for a few reasons.
