Virginia Basketball Double Bonus: Purdue

The Virginia basketball team lifted the program back to the Final Four for the first time since 1984 with its exciting overtime win against Purdue. The Cavaliers won 80-75 behind 49 combined points from Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome, all of which were needed to survive a 42-point outburst by the Boilermakers’ Carsen Edwards.

Oh, and then there was, the shot on Kihei Clark’s pass to Mamadi Diakite at the end of regulation too. That ended up being a hot topic that’s spawned nicknames like the Kiheikite or DiaKihei play or The Mamadi Miracle. Call it what you want. Just know you, and others, will be reliving it for years.

Ty Jerome Dominated The Start Of The Second Half

UVA guard Ty Jerome was magnificent in this game, which I think was overshadowed by everything else going on between Kyle Guy’s resurgence and team-high 25 points plus the shot heroics that saved the season. Plus, it was Carsen Edwards’ Dr. Seuss night in Louisville. Do you want it here or there? How about anywhere?
