The Virginia men’s and women’s basketball programs completed the release of their 2022-2023 schedules this week. With Atlantic Coast Conference games now making up the majority of the season slate – 20 games for the men and 18 for the women – there will be conference action before the New Year arrives for both teams. Here is a closer look.
UVA Men’s Basketball Team Hosts Duke, UNC As Part Of Schedule
The Hoos already knew who they would face home and away this season, but the ACC released the dates to complete the schedule picture. They begin conference play with Florida State at home on Saturday, Dec. 3 as one of the last two games before the annual exam break. The last regular season game also takes place at the John Paul Jones Arena with a visit from Louisville on March 4.
There are two other ACC games before 2023 begins. Virginia plays at Miami on Tuesday, Dec. 20 and at Georgia Tech on Saturday, Dec. 31. With a trip to Pittsburgh on Tuesday, Jan. 3 right after the New Year begins, the Hoos will play three of their first four conference games on the road.
The league’s perennial headliners, North Carolina and Duke, will arrive in Charlottesville almost exactly one month apart. The Tar Heels play at JPJ on Tuesday, Jan. 10, while the Blue Devils come to town on Saturday, Feb. 11. Other home games on the 2023 portion of the schedule include Syracuse (Jan. 7), Virginia Tech (Jan. 18), Boston College (Jan. 28), NC State (Feb. 7), Notre Dame (Feb. 18), Clemson (Feb. 28), and the aforementioned Louisville finale (March 4).
