On the Virginia basketball team’s first trip to Florida this season, Armaan Franklin had a game he’d probably like to forget. When the Hoos returned to the state over the weekend, however, there was no such worry. He had a night to remember.

Franklin erupted for 20 points to lead all players in UVA’s 67-58 win against Florida State in Tallahassee. That’s a far cry from the Cavaliers’ game at Miami on Dec. 20 when he went scoreless and sat for much of the night. He played only 13 minutes in that contest with 2 rebounds and 1 blocked shot as the counting stats in the final numbers.

That game against the Hurricanes appears to have served as a catalyst much more than a burden, though.

“He’s come back since the Miami game, I think he’s really taken a step and helped us out,” Virginia coach Tony Bennett said. “So, again, I like the opportunities he’s getting in terms of being assertive offensively and it’s kind of coming together for him.”
