The Virginia basketball team needed overtime, but it kept its home winning streak going Wednesday night with a 59-53 victory against NC State. That’s 21 straight at home. The Double Bonus is back for a closer look.

The Cavaliers placed 5 players in double figures, which included Reece Beekman’s 10th straight outing with 10+ points. He tallied 11 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals against the Pack. Of those 11 points, 5 came from the same action in early parts of both halves.

In this clip from the first half, you see the concept clearly. As Beekman brings the ball up the court, the Hoos set up a recent wrinkle that features a stacked double screen on one side of the floor for a cutter to use. In this case, Ryan Dunn and Jordan Minor move into position and point toward Isaac McKneely on the left wing.

NC State’s defenders have their heads turned as they go with Dunn and Minor. That opens up a driving chance for Beekman, who gets downhill and scores the layup plus a foul. He makes the free throw for an old-fashioned 3-point play.
