“I’ve always said playing Tony’s teams is like going to the dentist and getting a root canal and getting your teeth pulled out,” Forbes said during his postgame press conference.
The Cavaliers limited a high-scoring Demon Deacons team to just 47 points and are now 115-2 all-time under Bennett when holding opponents to less than 50 points, including 6-0 this season. Wake’s leading scorer Hunter Sallis entered the game ranked third in the ACC at 18.7 points per game, but was held to 2 points in the first half before finishing with 12. He did not connect on a 3-pointer until 6:52 left in the game after hitting 5 in the January matchup between the teams..
Sallis added a headache to Forbes’ root canal being defended by reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year Reece Beekman throughout the game.
