Andre Levrone’s opening act can be called nothing short of crowd-pleasing.
Levrone flashed on to the Virginia football scene back in 2014 with 75 yards and a touchdown receiving against No. 7 UCLA in the season opener at Scott Stadium. That’s the sort of thing that draws applause from the crowd.
Alas, encore performances have been hard to come by. He’s spent as much time watching understudies take the stage as making star level appearances since. Injuries derailed any chances of consistency. He had back surgery in 2015 after starting the season opener at UCLA and missed the final 11 games. In 2016, he missed two games and was slowed by an MCL sprain. That all followed a high school career at Good Counsel outside of Washington D.C. that saw the need for shoulder surgery and a torn ACL as a senior that led to a redshirt season to start at UVA.
With graduation just days away and only months before the start of fall camp, Levrone knows that prologue is leading to a final act. He wants it to be a big one worthy of more applause.
