Brennan Armstrong and Nick Jackson posted eye-catching numbers last season. Both led the conference, in fact, with Armstrong recording 4,449 passing yards to set a new Virginia single season record and Jackson making 117 tackles. Neither expressed much motivation in chasing similar numbers this season.
They came back for another reason. Team goals tinged with a bit of unfinished business.
That’s easy to understand. The 2022 season ended on a disappointing note for the Hoos. Four straight losses. The Fenway Bowl was canceled. Another offseason began with a loss to Virginia Tech as a result. Oh, and their coach left with an abrupt resignation.
