Virginia football fans undoubtedly know to watch out for a Jackson in the linebacker group. Nick Jackson, after all, led the ACC in tackles last season and could put together a senior season that will move him up the career charts at UVA.
What some Hoo fans might not realize, however, is that there’s another Jackson in the linebacker room. And the Cavaliers are excited about his potential.
“James Jackson … he’s probably got the highest upside of all the guys,” Virginia coach Tony Elliott said. “He’s a talented, talented young guy.”
Jackson committed to UVA out of North Cross High School in Roanoke. A 3-star recruit, he helped the Raiders go 11-1 on the way to a VISAA Division II State Championship in 2019 playing both receiver and linebacker. That season, his last full campaign in high school due to a shortened 2020 season related to the pandemic, he had 77 tackles and 9.0 sacks.
