To round out the first half of the 2023 season, the Virginia football team will host fellow in-state foe William & Mary. Now that James Madison is in the Sun Belt Conference, William & Mary will be the Wahoos’ only FCS opponent this year.

The two schools have played a total of 38 times since 1908, and Virginia leads the series with a record of 31-6-1. Following a visit to Boston College, coach Tony Elliott and his team will be hoping that a home game against the Tribe can serve as an easy mid-season matchup.

How about we learn more about Virginia’s sixth opponent of the 2023 season.

What To Expect On Game Day

What’s To Like: Pound The Rock! The Tribe offense was one of the best in all of FCS when it came to running the ball in 2022. William & Mary averaged 265.8 yards per game (3rd best nationally), and 5.95 yards per rush (4th best nationally). Running back Bronson Yoder, who is returning in 2023, led the way for his team, totalling 1,255 yards and 13 touchdowns. The senior is a physical runner who tends to pick up lots of yards after contact. Along with Yoder, the offense will also have its other top two rushers back for this season in fellow running back Malachi Imoh and quarterback Darius Wilson. If Imoh, who averaged 8.5 yards per carry and had 722 total yards in 2022, receives a slight uptick in touches in 2023, the Tribe could have two thousand-yard rushers.
