The Virginia football team returns to Scott Stadium following a two-game road trip when Georgia Tech visits for an ACC Coastal Division matchup in early November. UVA coach Tony Elliott picked up his sole ACC win in 2022 when the Cavaliers traveled to Atlanta last fall. He’ll be hoping to find similar success this year as Virginia and Georgia Tech will most likely be battling not to finish last in the division if preseason projections hold.

The Yellow Jackets finished 2022 on a slight high note as interim head coach Brent Key led his team to a 4-4 finish after starting 1-3. Key was officially named the full-time head coach following the conclusion of the 2022 season. The November contest will coincide with Virginia’s Family Weekend.

Let’s take a closer look at Virginia’s ninth opponent of the 2023 season.

What To Expect On Game Day

What’s To Like: Solid Turnaround After Appointing Key As Interim HC. Georgia Tech fired Geoff Collins as its head coach after starting 1-3 and turned to Key. During his three full seasons at the helm, Collins never won more than three ACC games in a single season and finished with an overall conference record of 7-19. Key was in charge for just eight total games, but was able to lead his program to a 4-3 conference record during that span, including road wins at No. 24 Pittsburgh and No. 13 North Carolina. It’ll be interesting to see what this team can do with Key as head coach for the entire season.
