The Virginia football team will end the 2023 season by hosting rival and in-state opponent, Virginia Tech. It’s the game you circle at the beginning of every season, the Commonwealth Cup.

Both programs are looking to rebound this year after struggling in 2022 under first year head coaches. Offense in particular was an area of concern for the Hoos and the Hokies, with both ranking bottom 4 in the ACC in scoring, rushing, and passing. No matter what the records of the two teams are when the time arrives, this game is a big one for coach Tony Elliott and he’ll be looking to get his first win in a storied rivalry.

What To Expect On Game Day

What’s To Like: Added A Lot Of Talent And Experience At The Wide Receiver Position. Virginia Tech is not typically known for its air game. For years, the offense has relied on the ability to run the ball. Coach Pry and Tyler Bowen, the team’s offensive coordinator, are hoping to pose more of a threat in the passing game by adding three receivers from the portal who have all produced at their previous schools.
