Virginia returns home to Scott Stadium this Saturday after a tough loss in Nashville. James Madison makes the short drive from Harrisonburg for UVA’s home opener as the two schools meet for the first time in 40 years. The Cavaliers lead the all-time series 2-1.

The game marks the Hoos’ emotional return to Scott Stadium as this will be the program’s first home game since last November’s tragic shooting took the lives of Lavel Davis Jr., Devin Chandler, and D’Sean Perry. Virginia will hold a pregame ceremony dedicated to the lost players’ and their families. That is scheduled for approximately 11:30 a.m. and fans are encourage to arrive early and to wear orange.

Fans attending the game are likely to see a good matchup too. The Dukes are a talented team that impressed many last year in the program’s first season as a part of the Football Bowl Subdivision. Coach Tony Elliott’s team will be tested, as JMU opened as a six-point favorite, but there were signs from the Tennessee game that suggest this Virginia squad could get the win.

The Cavaliers suffered some injuries against the Volunteers. Quarterback Tony Muskett left the game early in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury. While he is listed on the depth chart for this weekend, Coach Elliott has stated that he’ll be a game-time decision. Senior defensive tackle Olasunkonmi Agunloye also left the game last Saturday with injuries to both knees that will sideline him for the rest of the season. Agunloye recorded Virginia’s lone sack and recovered a fumble in the opener. Finally, both Chico Bennett and Antonio Clary are not listed on the depth chart for JMU, but could be in the lineup if the coaches and medical staff feel as though they are ready.
